Acupuncture: A Minimally Invasive Approach to Treating a Variety of Conditions

Acupuncture is a Chinese medicine-based approach to treating a variety of conditions by triggering specific points on the skin with needles. Chinese acupuncturists believe that these points correspond with certain organs and glands in the body, and that stimulating them can improve their function. Paul Kempisty, who has been practicing Chinese acupuncture for over 25 years, explains: “It’s [acupuncture] a minimally invasive method to stimulate nerve-rich areas of the skin surface in order to influence tissues, gland, organs and various functions of the body.”

Many Chinese people believe that illness is caused by an imbalance in their body, which can be corrected with acupuncture. Paul Kempisty believes this as well and says that the needle points “stimulate certain areas of the nerve-rich surface to release chemicals called neurotransmitters.” This then affects various functions within the body, such as hormonal secretion or immune system response. He concludes: “The Chinese way of thinking about it is that there are channels through which energy flows through your body… Acupuncture stimulates those points on these channels so they start flowing again.”

The art of acupuncture can help to improve the quality of your life, both physically and mentally.

This is where acupuncture comes in as an alternative treatment option to help restore balance back into the body and mind. The Chinese way of thinking about it is that there are channels through which energy flows through your body… Acupuncture stimulates those points on these channels so they start flowing again.

For the time being, if you have a problem for which acupuncture has scientific support, here’s what to expect from a session: Acupuncture sessions can run anywhere from 60 to 90 minutes, with the majority of that time spent discussing your problems and concerns with your practitioner without the use of needles. Acupuncture treatment might last anything from 30 minutes to an hour.

This is where the needles come in. Your practitioner will use them to stimulate points on your skin, which they believe are connected to other parts of your body that need healing… Acupuncture doesn’t work for everyone. It’s worth noting, though, that it has been scientifically shown to help with a variety of conditions like pain management and postpartum depression.”

While there is no evidence that acupuncture is a miracle cure-all, it does appear to be a worthwhile treatment for patients who have a variety of ailments and disorders. There’s a reason it’s been around for over 2,500 years, and as science advances, so will our understanding of what works and doesn’t.

Acupuncture is also thought to affect the autonomic nervous system (which regulates biological activities) and the release of hormones that control blood flow and pressure, reduce inflammation, and relax the brain.

Acupuncture is a Chinese medicine-based approach to treating pain. Acupuncture has been shown to be helpful in the treatment of chronic conditions such as low back and neck pain, headaches, carpal tunnel syndrome, shoulder injuries from repetitive motion or sports injuries, postpartum depression.”
